MOVD Terms of Service

Thank you for choosing MOVD (“MOVD,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By booking or using our services, you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, please do not book or use MOVD.
1) Eligibility & Acceptance
- You must be at least 18 and authorized to enter contracts for the origin/destination addresses.
- Acceptance occurs when you submit a booking request, pay the deposit, or otherwise use our services.
2) Key Definitions
- Flat-Fee Move: One price based on inventory/volume estimate and selected tier (Economy, Preferred, Premium). Includes a defined “grace” allowance and a published overage rate per cu ft beyond grace.
- Hourly Move: Time-and-materials billing (crew hours × rate), plus applicable fees and pass-throughs.
- Deposit: A $50 amount paid to reserve your crew and date.
3) Booking & Deposit
- Deposit to reserve: A non-usage fee of $50 is charged at checkout to hold your date and crew. Unless otherwise stated in the confirmation, deposits are refundable if you cancel at least 24 hours before your confirmed arrival window.
- Card on file: At checkout you authorize MOVD to securely store your payment method to settle the final balance and any authorized adjustments (see Sections 4, 6, and 8).
4) Pricing
- Flat-Fee Moves (tiers):
- Includes: crew, standard stairs, normal distance within route plan, tolls, parking, and required permits, and (where applicable) a building COI.
- Grace & overage: Each tier includes a stated grace allowance; volume beyond grace is charged at the published per-cu-ft overage rate. Tier perks and grace amounts vary by tier.
- Quotes assume the details you provide (inventory, access, stops). Material changes can update pricing.
- Hourly Moves:
- Billed for actual time (subject to any minimum hours and billing increments shown in your quote).
- Not included: tolls, parking, and permits are pass-through charges billed at cost on the final invoice. COI is typically not included for hourly unless explicitly stated.
- Packing & boxes: If you purchase packing, we will pack items/boxes as agreed. Otherwise, drawers, cabinets, and appliances must be fully emptied and items packed/boxed by you (see Section 5).
- Add-ons: Optional services/supplies are itemized and added to your total.
5) Customer Responsibilities & Preparation
- Accurate details: Provide accurate addresses, inventory, special handling, access (elevators, loading zones), COI needs, and any restrictions (time windows, stairs, narrow entries, etc.).
- Access & COIs: Where buildings require elevator reservations, loading docks, or COIs, you are responsible for coordinating access windows unless you purchase a tier or add-on where MOVD coordinates on your behalf.
- Contents policy (when packing is not purchased): You agree that all drawers, cabinets, and appliances will be emptied and loose items boxed and sealed prior to crew arrival. MOVD may, at our discretion, decline to transport items that are not reasonably prepared.
- Prohibited/unsafe items: See Section 9.
6) Payment & Invoicing
- When you are charged: We do not charge 24 hours before the move. Instead, we charge your card on file after the job is completed (typically the same day) for the final balance reflecting your selected product (Flat-Fee or Hourly) plus any applicable add-ons, pass-throughs, or approved adjustments.
- Receipts & adjustments: You’ll receive an itemized receipt. Any post-move corrections (e.g., COI or parking pass-throughs for hourly) will be documented.
- Failed payments: If a payment method fails, you authorize us to reattempt and/or provide an alternate method within 3 business days.
7) Cancellations & Rescheduling
- Refundable deposit window: Cancel ≥24 hours before your arrival window to receive a refund of the $50 deposit.
- Late cancellations/no-shows: Cancelling <24 hours before your window or failing to provide access may forfeit the deposit and incur a call-out fee at our discretion.
- Reschedules: We’ll do our best to accommodate new dates/times. Pricing may update to reflect new availability or details.
8) Damage, Claims & Limits
- Report window: Please report any loss or damage in writing within 5 business days of job completion to contact@movd.nyc with your order ID, photos, and a description.
- Inspection & documentation: You agree to reasonably cooperate so we can investigate and, if appropriate, repair or compensate within the limits below.
- Exclusions (examples): pre-existing damage, inherent vice (fragility), loose or unboxed items you packed yourself, particleboard/ready-to-assemble furniture, concealed contents left in drawers/cabinets/appliances when packing was not purchased, and Prohibited Items (Section 9).
- Service Guarantee: MOVD may offer a discretionary service guarantee (e.g., up to a stated dollar cap). This is not insurance and is limited to the actual, reasonable cost to repair or replace (at our option), up to the applicable cap.
- Caps & remedies: Aggregate remedies are limited to the lesser of repair cost, reasonable replacement cost, or the applicable cap communicated in your confirmation.
- Tier advantage (your requested 8.6): The higher the tier, the better the claims experience. Preferred and Premium tiers include enhanced grace and perks, and may receive prioritized handling and higher discretionary caps than Economy, subject to the specific limits disclosed in your quote/confirmation. 9) Prohibited or Special-Handling Items
Hazardous materials, illegal goods, live animals, perishable food, high-value collectibles/antiques without disclosure, and items restricted by building rules may be declined or require special handling/waivers.
10) Limits; Force Majeure
We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control (weather, traffic incidents, strikes, building access restrictions, utility outages, etc.).
11) Dispute Resolution
We aim to resolve issues directly. If we cannot, disputes may be brought in small claims court where permitted by law. Otherwise, the laws of the service location govern to the extent not preempted.
12) Miscellaneous
- Entire agreement: These Terms plus your written confirmation constitute the agreement.
- Updates: We may update these Terms; the version effective at booking applies, unless you expressly accept a later version.
