MOVD Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how MOVD (“MOVD,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit our website, request quotes, or book and manage moving services. If you have any questions, contact us at contact@movd.nyc.
1) Information we collect
- Contact & account info: name, email, phone.
- Service details: pickup & dropoff addresses (and apartment/unit), building access (elevator, stairs, COI needs), preferred date/time windows, additional stops, storage needs, and inventories you submit.
- Payment info: we use Stripe to process payments and store cards on file. MOVD does not store full card numbers.
- Location/route data: distance and route estimates derived from mapping services when you enter addresses.
- Communications: emails, SMS, and support chats with us.
- Device & usage data: pages viewed, clicks, referral URLs, IP address, and basic device information collected via cookies or similar tech.
2) Sources of information
We collect information directly from you (forms, checkout, support), from your device/browser, and from service providers (e.g., payment processors, mapping and analytics tools).
3) How we use information
- Provide quotes, schedule moves, and deliver services.
- Process deposits and final payments via Stripe; save a card on file when you authorize it.
- Coordinate with buildings (e.g., COIs) and manage routing/logistics.
- Send transactional messages (confirmations, reminders, receipts) and respond to support.
- Improve our site, services, pricing accuracy, and user experience.
- Prevent fraud, secure our systems, and comply with legal obligations.
4) Legal bases (EEA/UK visitors)
We rely on one or more of the following: contract performance (to provide the service you requested), legitimate interests (e.g., improve and secure the service), consent (where required, e.g., certain cookies/marketing), and legal obligations.
5) How we share information
- Service providers: companies that help us run MOVD, such as Stripe (payments & card-on-file), mapping and geocoding (e.g., Google Places/Maps, Mapbox), analytics/metrics, email & SMS providers, and cloud hosting.
- Operational partners: vetted crews or logistics partners to fulfill your move, only with the details needed to perform the job.
- Legal & safety: to comply with law, enforce terms, or protect rights, safety, and property.
- Business changes: in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as permitted by law.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not “share” your information for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined by certain U.S. state laws.
6) Cookies & tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, measure site performance, and improve features. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Where required, we’ll seek consent for non-essential cookies.
7) Data retention
We keep information for as long as needed to provide services, comply with legal and tax obligations, resolve disputes, and improve operations. Payment tokens are retained by Stripe according to their policies and your authorizations.

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of the data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; please use strong passwords and keep your account details safe.

- Access, update, or delete certain info by contacting us.
- Opt out of non-essential emails via unsubscribe links.
- Control cookies via your browser or system settings.
EEA/UK: You may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing, and to data portability. You can also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

10) Children’s privacy
MOVD is not directed to children under 13 (or the age required by your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11) International transfers
We may process and store information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We’ll post the new effective date at the top of this page. Material changes may be communicated by email or site notice.
